Our Story

Real butter is back.

Butterish was built on a simple belief — Pakistan deserves real butter. Not cream substitutes. Not vegetable oil blends. Real dairy butter from pure milk cream, the way it has always been made.

Traditional slow-churn butter making
The Beginning

We built Butterish because real butter had disappeared.

Walk through any grocery aisle in Lahore and you'll find tubs labelled "butter" — most of them aren't. They are hydrogenated palm oil, emulsifiers, beta-carotene for colour, and a synthetic note of dairy. The real thing — makhan slow-churned from cream — had quietly vanished from a country that grew up on it.

We started Butterish to bring it back. One product, made properly, the way our grandmothers made it. Fresh cow and buffalo milk from trusted Punjab dairies. Cream cultured overnight. A slow, low-heat churn. Cold spring water to wash the butter clean.

No factory. No shortcuts. No compromise. Just butter, the way it has always been.

"To bring back the real food our grandparents took for granted — without apology, additives, or compromise."

Our Mission

A Common Question

Is butter dairy?

Real butter — yes, always. True butter is made by churning cream, which is the fatty layer that rises from milk. That makes it 100% dairy.

The confusion comes from spreads and margarine sold beside butter — those are oil-based products engineered to look like dairy, but contain little or no milk at all. Butterish is the real thing: pure dairy butter from fresh milk cream, with nothing else added.

What Makes Butterish Different

Real Butter vs Cream Substitute

Butterish — Real Dairy Butter

  • Made from 100% pure cow & buffalo milk cream
  • Slow-churned in small batches
  • Naturally white — the colour of real cream
  • Fresh, perishable, alive
  • Tastes like the makhan you grew up on

Typical Cream Substitute

  • Built from refined vegetable / palm oil
  • Stabilisers, emulsifiers, preservatives
  • Dyed yellow to mimic dairy
  • Indefinite shelf life
  • Tastes vaguely buttery — never quite right
